"The Burghers of Calais" by Auguste Rodin.

Iconic sculptures for Modernist style, 1884-9. Bronze. It is based on events from 1347 in a border city (Calais) and during the Hundred Years' War, between France and England.


To Rodin, the Group expresses "pain, anguish and fatalism". Calais, France.
